Communities of Change

MARTHA’S VINEYARD ISLAND, MA

A Long Talk About The Uncomfortable Truth works with communities across the country to help local organizations and entities that are ready to make real anti-racism change. This year, we have selected the small island of Martha’s Vineyard off the coast of Cape Cod as a Community of Change partner.

The Community of Change partnership recognizes the potential for local communities to be the change they want to see in the world.

This year we are partnering with the residents, organizations, and institutions of Martha’s Vineyard to put in the work that is needed to enhance and empower a culture of anti-racism across the island.

A Long Talk chose this small community because we believe in the power of the people here. There is a growing spirit of anti-racism on the island that we recognize and respect. If you believe that only you and I can end racism, join us on the frontlines and let’s get to work doing just that.

Our goal is to empower 500 active, anti-racists on the island through their participation in A Long Talk About The Uncomfortable Truth. As a result, we will establish an alliance of citizens who are committed to the work of racial reconciliation on Martha’s Vineyard.

Chief Empowerment Officer, Kyle R. Williams, talks to WMVY radio about Community of Change and how the initiative came to light as a need on Martha’s Vineyard.
