Reconstructing America’s Story with Kermit Roosevelt III
Join us at the A Long Talk Lunchtime Speaker Series for a compelling session with Professor Kermit Roosevelt III (J.D. Yale ’97 · A.B. Harvard ’93). Professor Roosevelt is an authority on civil litigation (practice & procedure), constitutional law & civil rights, and the courts and judicial system—and teaches at University of Pennsylvania Law School where his courses include Constitutional Law and Conflicts of Law.
What makes this talk extra-special: Professor Roosevelt is more than a legal scholar—he is a great-great-grandson of President Theodore Roosevelt, offering a unique vantage point on America’s enduring story of governance, rights and identity.
In his session, “Reconstructing America’s Story,” he'll challenge our conventional national narrative and invites us to reconsider how America’s identity and promise were forged—arguing that the true foundation of our nation lies not only in the Founding era but in the bold re-imagining during Reconstruction and the 14th Amendment.
He is also the author of The Nation That Never Was: Reconstructing America’s Story. Discover more and purchase the book here: https://kermitroosevelt.net/
Don’t miss this opportunity for a timely, thought-provoking conversation on nation-building, justice, and how our courts shape society from historical legacy to modern realities.
